Notes: Frans Malan, the founder of Simonsig, was the first producer of Méthode Cap Classique (Champagne Method) in South Africa when he pioneered Kaapse Vonkel in 1971.
With an elegant light golden hue, this MCC with its fine persistent mousse displays aromas of white peach, fresh apple & pear. On the palate, stone fruit flavours are beautifully complimented by hints of citrus & raspberries. Lively acidity & a crisp, dry finish contributes to an elegant Cap Classique & a wine which we recommend time & time again.

These elements are intertwined in this family-owned farm, where the late Frans Malan produced the first bottle of the much-loved Kaapse Vonkel, South Africaʼs first Méthode Cap Classique made in the classic bottle-fermented style. He is also honoured for co-founding the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route, a first in its time. Today, his legacy lives on through his sons, Francois & Johan, & grandchildren Francois-Jacques, Christelle & Michael, the 2nd & 3rd Malan generations at Simonsig Wine Estate.
