2 for £35 Jansz Tasmania Premium Cuvee NV

Wine: Two Bottles Jansz ‘Premium Cuvee’

Producer: Jansz

Country: Australia

Region: Tasmania

Vintage: NV

Style: Sparkling White

Blend: Chardonnay 53%, Pinot Noir 44%, Pinot Meunier 3%

ABV: 12%

Size: 75cl

Notes: A Chardonnay & Pinot Noir dominated blend with two years cellaring & as much time as possible on its lees before hand creates a wine with great structure.

Honeysuckle & citrus scents are immediately apparent with slight aromas of nougat, roasted nuts & a sniff of strawberry from the Pinot Noir. Delicate fruits & creaminess wash through the mouth leaving a lingering finish of citrus & nougat. One of our favourite sparkling wines!

“One of the most reliable names in the world of sparkling wine, Jansz continues to impress fizz enthusiasts with its lush, layered, complex creations. With the sort of palate weight that you might expect from a vintage cuvée, just enough acidity to impress purists and also enough fruit to hypnotise newcomers this is a mightily clever wine. We all know that NV cuvées are more difficult to assemble than vintage cuvées and this shows off winemaker Natalie Fryar’s innate understanding of her craft to a tee. It’s stunning value, too!” Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines

Producer Info: As a pioneer of premium Australian sparkling wine, Jansz Tasmania is renowned for its unique style, known simply as méthode Tasmanoise. The name pays homage to Tasmania’s namesake, the Dutch explorer Abel Jansz Tasman, who was the first European to sight the island in 1642.

The Jansz Tasmania vineyard, which is now owned by the Hill-Smith family, sits to the north-east of the island state within the Pipers River region of the Tamar Valley. This cool little corner is colloquially known as ‘Sparkling Tasmania’. Temperatures here are moderated by its close proximity to Bass Strait & the ocean breezes keep the temperature up during Winter – minimising risk of frost – & down in Summer, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly & develop intense, delicate & refined flavours. Resting on a bed of pure, red, free-draining basalt soil, the vineyard is truly the perfect site to grow grapes for world-class sparkling wines.
