Chateau Cantemerle Les Allees de Cantemerle 2014

Chateau Cantemerle Les Allees de Cantemerle 2014

Wine: Les Allees de Cantemerle

Producer: Chateau Cantemerle

Country: France

Region: Bordeaux / Haut-Medoc

Vintage: 2014

Style: Red

Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 82%, Cabernet Franc 10%, Merlot 8%

ABV: 13%

Size: 75cl

Notes: A ‘second wine’ but Les Allees de Cantemerle is made from the same vineyards & with the same dedication as Chateau Cantemerle itself.

A traditional & deeply coloured Bordeaux, with a delicate, elegant bouquet of blackcurrant / cassis & tobacco through to a smooth, silky palate with a touch of raspberry on the finish. The wine was aged for 12 months in medium toasted French oak barrels, of which 20% were new. Bottled without filtration.

A second wine is the term for a premium wine made by an estate that is second only to their Grand Vin. These wines are produced from the same vineyards as the grand vin but at a more accessible price & act as a great introduction to their `older sibling`. In the vineyard & winery, these wines generally receive the same treatment as the grand vin however, the overall blend & maturation are different.

Producer Info: Following enormous investment & changes both in the winery & vineyard management, Chateau Cantemerle is a Fifth Classed Growth which is proud of its heritage & justifies its place in the 1855 classification. The Chateau is home to three temperature controlled vat rooms with a total capacity of 8,000 litres & the cellars are all air conditioned, housing over 2,000 barrels. The second wine of Chateau Cantemerle (Les Allees) comes mainly from the Chateau’s younger vines & is produced in the same way as its elder brother. Les Allées de Cantemerle has the same great personality as the Grand Vin, but is ready to drink earlier.
