Producer Info: Owners, the Pelizzatti family can trace their winemaking heritage back to the 14th Century when their ancestors produced wine from the terraced vineyards of Valtellina, Italy. Winemaking at Chakana is based on very little human intervention & relies on natural yeasts & the minimal addition of sulphur. It is both a socially & environmentally responsible wine producer whose commitment to the environment is endorsed by its Organic, Biodynamic & Fair for Life certifications. In 2012 Chakana started a conversion process to restore & maintain the health of its soils by transforming its production to organic & biodynamic methods. The Nuna estate has been certified organic from the 2014 vintage onwards & has been certified biodynamic since 2016. The Los Cedros vineyard in Altamira is also certified organic & all the other vineyards are now in the process of being converted to the same standard.
