Cavicchioli Pignoletto Modena DOC Spumante
Wine: Pignoletto Modena DOC Spumante
Producer: Cavicchioli
Country: Italy
Region: Emilia-Romagna / Modena DOC
Vintage: NV
Style: Sparkling White
Blend: Pignoletto 100%
ABV: 11%
Size: 75cl
Organic: NO
Biodynamic: NO
Vegan: NO
Notes: A refined sparkling Italian white that offers that step up in quality from (most) Prosecco, despite the similar price tag. Dry, delicate & slightly aromatic this is a versatile wine. Light straw yellow in colour, the pour displays a creamy white foam with fine, persistent perlage. The nose has aromatic nuances of white flowers & jasmine, whilst the palate is dry & soft with a long finish of floral sensations.
Producer Notes: Cavicchioli is synonymous with Lambrusco in Italy. Located in Emilia-Romagna, the winery is a stone’s throw from some of the most famous centres of Italian gastronomy: Parma, Modena & Bologna. So it is no mean feat that the winemakers are seen as an institution & over the generations the wine has played an important role in the local Modenese community.
Founded in 1928 after Umberto Cavicchioli decided to turn the laboratory behind his house into a winery, the innovation continues today. This is a modern style producer of Lambrusco: lighter & fragrant without any of the shrillness. If you don’t think Lambrusco can be a serious wine, think again. Likewise their Pignoletto is an excellent example of this lesser-known Italian sparkling wine & provides an alternative to the sometimes predictable Prosecco wines.
